Firefighters were called to the 400 block of Wood Duck Drive just before 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, after a neighbor reported the blaze, according to the Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal.

More than 50 firefighters from departments in Dorchester and Talbot counties rushed to the scene, where flames had engulfed a two-story, wood-framed townhome, officials said.

Crews battled the fire for an hour and a half before getting it under control.

No injuries were reported, but the home where the fire started is a total loss. The flames also caused major damage to two adjacent homes, officials said.

Fire alarms and a residential sprinkler system were present and activated, though the blaze still left an estimated $750,000 in damage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
